Caterpillar Gas Petroleum Packaged Generator Cat SR4B generator

Cat SR4B generator powered by Caterpillar G3406 TA Gas Engine

Caterpillar offering with a new factory-assembled natural gas packaged generator set, powered by a Cat G3406 TA gas engine, for the oil and gas exploration and processing industry.

Cat G3406 is available for either continuous duty at 200 kVA, 1500 rpm, 50 Hz, or standby/continuous duty at 190 ekW 1800 rpm, 60 Hz. The low compression engine is capable of burning low quality field gas and provides flexibility: it is capable of burning fuel with methane numbers from 32 to 100.

The robust, easy-to-service packaged generator sets are designed for reliability and durability in petroleum applications. Offering long life and low ownership and operating costs, they are ideal for remote applications, round-the-clock duty cycles, pumping, drilling, oil field power and re-power.

This line builds on the success of the Cat SR4B generator. The self-excited, static-regulated, brushless design of the Cat SR4B provides reliable, stable power. Wave form deviation and harmonic distortion are both held to less than 5%. Voltage regulation is within ± 0.5% in steady state operation, and within ± 1% from no load to full load.

Powering the new generator is a Caterpillar G3406 TA gas engine, an inline, 6-cylinder, 4-stroke-cycle natural gas engine built on the same platform as Cat’s diesel 3406. The use of low-pressure gas improves reliability, while a 10.3:1 compression ratio and turbocharger with after-cooler enhance performance. The package meets current emissions regulations.

Available as an option, EMCP II+ has all those features plus customer communication, customer interface, local alarm and remote annunciator, and manual synchronizing modules. It also provides full-featured power metering and protective relaying.

Other options for these gen sets include exhaust system accessories, oversize and premium generators, auxiliary contacts, 5- and 10-amp battery chargers, oversize batteries, and automatic transfer switches (ATS).

Asphalt Compactors

Caterpillar Asphalt Compactors: Cat CB-214E, CB-224E and Cat CB-225E

Caterpillar Inc. announces the addition of the Cat CB-214E, CB-224E and Cat CB-225E Asphalt Compactors to its product line. With the introduction of the CB-214E, Cat CB-224E and CB-225E, Caterpillar strengthens its line of vibratory asphalt compactors. These new utility-sized models complement the Cat® high-production asphalt rollers, the Cat CB-434D, CB-534D, Cat CB-534D XW and CB-634D. In addition, they share many features, possess a strong resemblance and have the same operating characteristics available on the intermediate-sized machines, the Cat CB-334E and Cat CB-335E, which will release in early 2004.

Cat CB-214E is a double drum with a 1000 mm (39 inch) compaction width. It has an operating weight of 2450 kg (5,400 lb). Cat CB-214E is well suited for rental customers and contractors or agencies that maintain streets, roads, alleys or are adding paths to parks and recreation areas. In these applications, the tight turning radius and easy maneuverability make it a perfect match.

Cat CB-224E also is a double drum and has a compaction width of 1200 mm (47 inch). It has an operating weight of 2630 kg (5,800 lb). The high amplitude and width give the CB-224E the capacity to achieve a tons-per-day production rate that make it an excellent match for shoulders, small parking lots, lane additions or other similar sized jobs.

Cat CB-225E is provides more versatility because of its combi configuration. Cat CB-225E has a 1200 mm (47 inch) wide drum at the front, and the rear end is equipped with four smooth tires. It has an operating weight of 2300 kg (5,070 lb). The combi roller can take the place of two compactors by providing the benefits of both a vibratory and a pneumatic compactor.

All three new models are powered by three cylinder Caterpillar 3013C diesel engines that provide a gross power of 24.4 kW (32.7 hp). The engine is liquid cooled and operates at 2,800 rpm. The engine meets U.S. Tier 2 emissions regulations.

The hydrostatic propel system provides smooth starts and stops, helping ensure a flawless mat. The hydrostatic propel system also provides service braking. A brake interlock prevents the machines from being propelled while the brakes are applied.

All three models have a high-frequency vibratory system that generates 63 Hz (3,780 vpm). Cat CB-214E and Cat CB-224E provide three vibratory modes, front drum only, rear drum only (optional) or both drums. With their high centrifugal force, frequency and amplitude, the Cat CB-214E and Cat CB-224E can reach density requirements in only a few passes. The drums have a pod-style housing that encloses the fixed eccentric weight.

Cat CB-200 E-Series machines are equipped with a sliding station as standard equipment. The sliding station includes a bucket seat. The sliding station can be equipped with an optional suspension seat that provides fore and aft, height and weight adjustments.

The sliding station arrangement is designed with heavy-duty components that will provide a long and reliable life. Two 25 mm (1") diameter solid steel rails running across the width of the machine support the station. One rail is positioned at the front of the seat and the other at the rear. Two large nylon bearings are attached to each rail. The nylon bearings allow the seat to slide back and forth on the rails...
