Chinese manufacturer XCMG has begun building the 3,600-plus ton capacity XGC88000, which is targeted for work at petrochemical, coal, chemical and nuclear power construction. It was jointly developed with Chinese oil company Sinopec (China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation) following an agreement signed in 2010.
The XGC88000 follows the 1,000- and 2,000-metric ton capacity models previously launched, the latter shown at the 2010 Bauma China exhibition in Shanghai.
The 88,000 tonne-metre rated crawler was configured with 84 m of boom. The reactor was tilted up and rotated before being installed on its foundation an operating radius of 23 m and with the 4,000 tonner at 71.1% of its capacity. Tailing was a 1,000 tonne capacity crawler crane.
The Shenhua Ningxia project is being carried out by Shenhua Group and Shenhua Ningxia Coal Industry Group. The facility will have the annual capacity to produce 4.04 million tonnes of oil and olefin, a company spokesperson said. The crawler make a further seven similar lifts at the project, a company spokesperson said.

In the morning of 5th July 2013, the XGC88000 performed its first job in Yantai, a joint effort between XCMG and Sinopec. The viewing stand is crowded with over 100 projects leaders and guest from both companies to witness the debut of the hoisting of the propylene tower in Wanhua Industrial Park.
They propane dehydrogenation column is the heaviest load in the project and has a certain level of difficulty to hoist. With a height of 118 metres, diameter of 14.4. metres and total load weight of 1,680 tonnes, the XGC88000 uses 108 metres heavy boom and 33 metres fixed jib to lift the column at a radius of 30 metres. It is the only mobile hoisting equipment available in the world that can perform this integrated lifting.
XGC88000 Breaks Another Record
A 4,000 tonne capacity class crawler crane from XCMG has broken a lifting record at a coal liquefaction project in Shenhua Ningxia, China. The XGC88000 heavy lift lattice boom crawler, built in China, lifted a Fischer-Tropsch oil synthesis reactor into place. The reactor had a diameter of 9.6 metres and a height of 54.4 m.
